Code of Conduct

  • Code of Conduct

All youth are to adhere to these standards including the Young Men and Young Women Standards as outlined below.

Adherence to these standards will be enforced; participants will not be allowed to attend if they are not appropriately dressed and groomed.

Any youth involved in any of the following activities will be sent home immediately:

  • Participating in or encouraging immoral behaviour of any kind
  • Theft of any kind
  • Breaking the Word of Wisdom
  • Possessing weapons or illegal substances of any kind
  • Doing anything harmful to yourself or others, physically or spiritually
  • Respect - Be respectful to the university grounds, college officials, and other administrative personnel. We are their guests. Place all garbage in the bins and please don't litter.  Please remember that you represent FSY, the Church and most importantly the Lord.

Safety - For your safety, back flips, front flips, aerials, or risky gymnastics of any kind will not be permitted during the week—ask your counsellor if you have a question about what is permissible before you do it.

Rooms - Members of the opposite sex are not permitted in your room or on the hall floor. You are also responsible for the maintenance of your room. If anything is damaged, you will be required to pay for replacement or any repairs. In order to comply with safety procedures, you must sleep in your own room from lights out until the next morning.

Room Key: Do not lose your room key. You will have to pay for replacements if you lose it.

Do Not Leave Campus - You must remain on campus throughout the week. In order to leave, you must have your parents sign a release form in the Site Office and come get you. Youth are not permitted to drive themselves to FSY, they must be dropped off and picked up.

Dress and Appearance - "The way you dress is a reflection of what you are on the inside. Your dress and grooming send messages about you to others and influence the way you and others act" (For the Strength of Youth, pg 16).

"Modesty is an attitude of humility and decency in dress, grooming, language, and behaviour. If you are modest, you do not draw undue attention to yourself. Instead, you seek to glorify God in your body, and in your spirit" (True to the Faith [2004], pg 106).

Youth are expected to maintain gospel standards and follow all dress and appearance guidelines (see For the Strength of Youth, pg. 9–12 for details).

Language and Behaviour - “Like your dress and grooming, your language and behaviour are expressions of your character. Your words and actions can have a profound influence on you and on others. Express yourself in clean, positive, uplifting language and in actions that bring happiness to those around you” (True to the Faith [2004], pg 108).

Charity - Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you; “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (Matthew 22:39).

Service - “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me” (Matthew 25:40); look for ways to serve one another.

Obedience - Obedience to the commandments is an expression for our love for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

Mobile Phone Use - Mobile phones are not encouraged.  However, if Youth choose to bring their mobiles they are responsible for the own safe keeping.  Mobiles may be confiscated if they are used during organised meetings, devotionals, classes and other activities. For emergencies please contact the FSY Office. If your mobile phone has a camera, please do not use it when its use could be considered unwelcomed, distracting, or an interruption to others and their privacy.

Activity Attendance - You are required to go to all of the activities and to be on time.

Daily Materials - Be prepared for the day.  Make sure to keep a pen, your handbook and scriptures with you at all times and take them with you to every activity, class and company meeting. Hard copy scriptures are required during all organised meetings, devotionals, classes and other activities.

Classroom Etiquette - Always show respect and be on time to all of your classes. Make sure that you carry a pen, your daily agenda, handbook and scriptures so that you can participate fully during the lessons. Refrain from putting these away until after the closing prayer.
